Udaipur, August 4 (Udaipur Kiran): In a landmark judgment, a court on Saturday convicted 17 people, including the victim’s husband, in the shocking Pratapgarh naked woman parade case that had shamed the entire state of Rajasthan last year.
Fourteen of the accused have been sentenced to seven years in prison, while three women have been sentenced to five years of imprisonment.
It is worth noting that last year, an incident of a tribal woman being paraded naked through a village in Dhariawad, Pratapgarh, had come to light. On Saturday, after completing the hearing, Civil Judge Ramkanya Soni announced the sentence in Dhariawad.
The court sentenced the victim’s husband, Kanha Meena, along with Khetia Meena, Motia alias Motilal Meena, Punia Meena, Kesra alias Kesrilal Meena, Suraj Meena, Pintu Meena, Nathulal Meena, Manaram alias Veniya Meena, Netiya Meena, Rupa Meena, Gautam Meena, Ramlal Meena, and Ramesh Meena to seven years in jail. Three female accused, Indra Meena, Meerki Meena, and Jhumeli Meena, have been sentenced to five years of imprisonment. Following the court’s order, all of them have been sent to jail. Special Public Prosecutor Manish Nagar argued the case on behalf of the prosecution.
