Porsche Teases Hybrid 911 Turbo Ahead of Munich Auto Show Debut
Porsche is generating buzz ahead of the IAA Mobility 2025 auto show in Munich, teasing a new model launch scheduled for September 7. The German automaker released a shadowy image hinting at a refreshed 911 coupe, widely believed to be the much-anticipated 911 Turbo facelift—and this time, the legendary sports car could be going hybrid.

Hybrid Power for the Iconic 911 Turbo
After receiving major updates across most of its 992.2 lineup, Porsche is expected to introduce the first-ever hybrid powertrain in the 911 Turbo. The upcoming model is likely to feature a GTS-style hybrid system, blending a turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor. While the current 911 Turbo uses a 3.7-litre twin-turbo flat-six producing 572 bhp (640 bhp in Turbo S), the facelifted version could swap in the GTS’s 3.0-litre engine paired with a 53 bhp electric motor. This hybrid setup is expected to push the Turbo S variant close to 700 bhp—making it the most powerful 911 Turbo ever.
Design and Interior Upgrades
The teased image showcases a familiar rear spoiler, synonymous with the Turbo badge. The facelifted 911 Turbo is expected to borrow design elements from the latest GTS, including a new front bumper with active aero fins for improved downforce and cooling, as well as updated lighting and a new rear bumper with dual-exit exhausts.
Inside, Porsche is set to upgrade the cockpit with a 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.9-inch infotainment display. The new model may also feature a starter button positioned on the door side—now standard on all 911s except the GT3. Seating layout remains uncertain, but recent teasers suggest Porsche could retain the familiar 2+2 configuration.
Debut Set for September 7
With the global debut less than a week away, Porsche fans and industry observers are keenly awaiting the unveiling of what promises to be the most advanced—and electrified—911 Turbo yet. The Munich auto show will reveal all details, confirming if the hybrid legend is indeed ready for the road.
