New Delhi, May 11: Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Awadhesh Prasad has expressed concerns that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal could promote hoarding in the country. He stated that inflation had already increased, but the situation was not disclosed due to elections in five states.
Prasad emphasized the need for PM Modi to focus on improving the country’s economy and foreign policy. His comments came in response to Modi’s appeal for the public to reduce fuel consumption and refrain from purchasing gold in light of global crises.
In an interview with the INS news agency, Prasad warned that Modi’s statement could lead to increased hoarding, skyrocketing inflation, and a rise in corruption. He suggested that it would be better if the Prime Minister concentrated on economic and foreign policy issues that have created a dire situation in the country, noting that relations with many nations have deteriorated.
Prasad urged PM Modi to halt his foreign trips and impose strict restrictions on large rallies during elections, as they incur significant expenses. He highlighted India’s proud history of unity and ideology in times of crisis.
He humbly requested PM Modi to focus on reviving the economy and improving foreign policy while putting a stop to unnecessary foreign trips by officials.
