‘Mobile, Gutka pouches, match box, lighters found inside barracks’
Udaipur : On his surprise inspection of the central jail on Wednesday, Banswara collector was disappointed by the jail authorities for not maintaining the cleanliness and hygienic standard inside the premises. Collector BhagwatiPrasad was shocked to see piles of chapaatis that were seen dumped in a corner of the jail. The officer reprimanded the jailer for the wastage of food and instructed him to send the left over chapaatis to the nearest goshala so that cows could be fed.

During his visit, the collector also seized 2 mobiles that had been concealed inside a pile of grass and woods. Inside the barracks, the officer found tobacco pouches, cigarettes and bidi bundles, lighter, match boxes and even a chillam too. The collector warned the authorities to hold timely and frequent inspections so that the prisoners couldn’t keep things that are not permissible in judicial custody. Jail Superintendent Badrilal Meena could not offer a satisfactory answer to the objectionable things found during the inspection.
