Paris Olympics: Noah Lyles Wins Gold in Men’s 100m Dash

 Noah Lyles Wins Gold

Paris, August 5 (Udaipur Kiran) – Noah Lyles from the United States (USA) won the gold medal in the men’s 100m final at the ongoing Paris Olympics on Sunday night.

Lyles needed to deliver something special in the biggest race of his career. He took advantage of his peak form and delivered his best performance in front of a packed crowd at Stade de France.

Noah won the gold medal with a time of 9.784 seconds, falling just 0.16 seconds short of Usain Bolt’s Olympic record of 9.63 seconds.

Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson had to settle for the silver medal, missing out on gold by mere fractions of a second in one of the closest 100m races in Summer Games history. Lyles’ compatriot Fred Kerley took the bronze with his season-best time of 9.81 seconds.

With his victory, Noah became the first American athlete to win gold in the 100m dash since Justin Gatlin topped the podium in 2004. The athletes had to wait for a while for the results as the competition was extremely close among all eight runners in the event.

Finally, it was announced that Noah edged out Kishane by 0.005 seconds to reach the top of the podium. Following the announcement, the crowd erupted in applause, celebrating the American sprinter’s remarkable victory. Noah tore off his shirt and waved it in the air in triumph.

South Africa’s Akani Simbine once again missed out on a podium finish, coming in fourth. In both the Tokyo and Rio Olympics, Simbine came close but missed out on winning an Olympic medal in the event.

Noah had previously won the 100m and 200m races at last year’s World Championships. After winning gold in the 100m, he will now aim for his second gold in the 200m event in Paris.
