Paris Olympics: Germany Reaches Hockey Final, Defeats India After Taking the Lead

Paris, August 6 (Udaipur Kiran): Germany has secured a spot in the final of the Paris Olympics 2024 by defeating the Indian team in the hockey semi-finals. This defeat has ended the Paris Olympic journey for the Indian hockey team.

In this closely contested match, India, which had taken the early lead, couldn’t score in the final six minutes, thus being eliminated from the medal race in the Paris Olympics. However, the entire match will be remembered for Germany’s defense and India’s attacking play.

The Indian men’s hockey team showed great intensity from the start against Germany and took a 1-0 lead in the first quarter. Harmanpreet Singh converted a penalty corner to give India the lead. This was Harmanpreet’s eighth goal of the Paris Olympics. Germany equalized the score 1-1 in the second quarter from a penalty corner. Gonzalo Peillat scored for Germany in the 18th minute. In the same quarter, Christopher Ruhr scored a brilliant goal from a penalty stroke, giving his team a 2-1 lead. This goal for Germany came in the 27th minute of the quarter.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the first quarter and trailing 2-1 in the second, the Indian team made a comeback in the third quarter. In the 36th minute of the match, Sukhjeet Singh converted a penalty corner, leveling the score at 2-2. For nearly 17 minutes, both teams tried to take the lead but failed. However, with six minutes remaining in the match, Marco Miltkau scored for Germany in the 54th minute, giving Germany a crucial 3-2 lead over India. Ultimately, this score remained unchanged, and Germany won the match.
