Pakistan May Boycott India Match in T20 World Cup: PCB Considers Bangladesh Support

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly considering boycotting its match against India in the upcoming T20 World Cup. According to a report by Pakistan’s Geo News, the PCB may decide not to play the match scheduled on February 15 in Colombo, showing support for Bangladesh.

PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi met Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday to discuss Pakistan’s participation in the World Cup and the possibility of playing against India. Naqvi stated that a final decision would be taken by next Friday or Monday.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to shift their match against India to Sri Lanka, citing security concerns. However, the ICC found no security threats and, after persuading Bangladesh, replaced them with Scotland for that fixture.

If Pakistan refuses to play against India, they stand to lose two points in the group stage and face significant financial losses. The ICC could also suffer financially due to the absence of this high-profile match.
