Udaipur : India’s men’s team delivered an impressive performance at the Special Olympics Unified Football World Cup 2026 held in Paris, winning the silver medal and bringing pride to the nation and Rajasthan.

The team was captained by Azeem Tariq, a B.Tech student of Pacific Institute of Technology, PAHER University, who demonstrated strong leadership and determination throughout the tournament. The silver medal is being seen as a reflection of the team’s coordination and hard work.
Pacific Group Chairman Rahul Agrawal said the Indian team displayed excellent technique, teamwork and unwavering spirit during the challenging matches in Paris. He said that under Azeem’s captaincy, the team challenged several strong opponents and created history by reaching the final stage of the tournament.
Agrawal added that the team’s discipline, game intelligence and mutual support among players played a key role in securing the achievement for the country.
Group President of Pacific University, B. P. Sharma, said the medal represents much more than sporting success. He said Indian youth have once again demonstrated their talent and capability, whether in sports or any other field, and expressed confidence that the achievement would inspire many young athletes.
PAHER University Vice-Chancellor Hemant Kothari congratulated Azeem and the team, saying the accomplishment proves that international success is possible through proper guidance and consistent effort.
Pacific University Registrar Sharad Kothari said the entire city, along with the university’s teachers and students, is proud of the achievement and wishes Azeem and the team continued success in the future.
Director of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Dilendra Hiran, also praised Azeem’s leadership and discipline, stating that his success would serve as an inspiration for other players.
The achievement has further highlighted the importance of inclusive sporting events such as the Special Olympics in Udaipur and Rajasthan and has raised hopes that more talented athletes in the region will receive opportunities to showcase their abilities on larger platforms.
