Pacific Institute Sees Historic Expansion in Medical Seats Amid Growing Infrastructure and Recognition

Udaipur, India – March 31, 2025: The Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Umarda, Udaipur, successfully organized a prestigious orientation and welcome ceremony on Monday for its new batch of postgraduate medical students. In a significant development, the institute has received approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC) to increase its postgraduate seats from 67 to 158 seats this year—a landmark moment in the institution’s journey.
Significant Growth in Medical Education Capacity
The newly added PG seats underscore the rapid progress of PIMS in terms of infrastructure, faculty strength, and academic reputation. In addition to postgraduate courses, the NMC has also granted approval for an increase in MBBS intake—from 150 to 200 students annually—further affirming the institution’s growing stature in Indian medical education.
The orientation event welcomed 158 postgraduate entrants, setting a new record for the institute. Senior leadership, including Chairman Ashish Agarwal, Managing Director Naman Agarwal, and Sheetal Agarwal, extended heartfelt wishes to the new students, encouraging them to pursue excellence in their chosen medical specialties.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Prashant Nahar inspired students to dedicate themselves fully to their disciplines, emphasizing ethical, compassionate, and research-driven medical practice. Principal Dr. Suresh Goyal administered the Hippocratic Oath, committing students to patient confidentiality, unbiased care, and lifelong learning aligned with the latest medical research.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Sarita Kant delivered an insightful talk on medical ethics, reinforcing the importance of empathy, integrity, and professional responsibility in clinical practice.
The program also featured notable faculty and dignitaries, including Registrar Dr. Devendra Jain, Dr. Chandra Mathur, Dr. B.L. Kumar, and Professor Dr. Srinidhi, who welcomed the guests and introduced PIMS’s facilities and services.
Literary Achievement Celebrated Amid Medical Milestone
Adding a cultural touch to the ceremony, the college honored MBBS student Ms. Vedavi Sharma for her debut poetry collection titled “Don’t Call Me Back”. The book was unveiled by the dignitaries, receiving high praise for being penned during her rigorous medical studies—a testament to the institute’s well-rounded student development.
Academic awards were presented to outstanding postgraduate students by Ashish Agarwal, Dr. Nahar, and Dr. Goyal, recognizing both academic merit and commitment to the profession. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Pranav Kumar, Professor of Forensic Medicine, and was efficiently managed by the MBBS academic team and students.
