Over 76,000 Tribal Farmers in Udaipur Receive ₹18 Crore Under PM-Kisan Scheme

Udaipur, Rajasthan — April 1, 2025 | In a major boost to tribal farmers in Rajasthan, more than 76,000 tribal beneficiaries in Udaipur district have received a total financial aid of ₹18 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. This information was provided by Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ram Nath Thakur, in response to a query raised in the Lok Sabha by Udaipur MP Mannalal Rawat.

Over 10 Lakh Tribal Farmers Benefited in Rajasthan

The minister stated that as part of the PM-KISAN initiative, 10,40,966 tribal farmers across Rajasthan have been allocated ₹244.85 crore so far. The scheme, launched by the central government, provides income support of ₹6,000 per year in three equal installments to all landholding farmer families, helping them meet agricultural and household expenses.

In addition to Udaipur:

  • 32,150 farmers in Salumber district were granted ₹7.38 crore.

  • 52,522 farmers in Pratapgarh district received ₹12.37 crore.

Government’s Support Through MSP Procurement

Responding further, the minister highlighted the government’s Minimum Support Price (MSP) framework aimed at supporting farmers’ incomes. Since 2014-15 to February 2025, the government has:

  • Procured 7,574.18 LMT of rice worth ₹14.08 lakh crore at MSP.

  • Procured 3,057.38 LMT of wheat worth ₹5.65 lakh crore at MSP.

  • Bought 172.47 LMT of pulses valued at ₹92,800 crore and 121.48 LMT of oilseeds worth ₹61,800 crore.

Value Protection Through PM-AASHA

Under the PM-AASHA scheme, the government purchases pulses, oilseeds, and copra when market prices fall below MSP, ensuring income protection for farmers, particularly in coordination with state governments.

The reply also emphasized the government’s commitment to reaching marginalized and tribal communities, ensuring inclusive growth through targeted financial assistance and procurement initiatives.
