North India hit by strong winds and dust storm; 16 killed in UP

Dust storm and rain lashed many parts of North India disrupting normal life at several places on Wednesday.

In Uttar Pradesh, dust storm, lightning and heavy rain claimed 16 lives in Mathura, Etawaha, Aligarh, Hathras and Agra districts. 27 people were also injured.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the district authorities to extend financial and medical assistance to the families of deceased and injured.

Delhiites witnessed a sudden change of weather after light rain lashed several parts of the national capital on Wednesday evening.

MeT Department said, gusty winds swept the city at 35 to 36 kms per hour. The minimum temperature was recorded at 22.4 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season’s average.
