Udaipur, 26 July: An inspiring and creative programme was organised on Saturday at the Government Senior Secondary School, Varda, near Udaipur, to mark the occasion of ‘No Bag Day’. Leaving behind books and school bags for the day, students participated in engaging creative activities that brought out their hidden talents.

The event was coordinated by the school’s creative educator, Hemant Joshi, who designed the activities keeping in mind the students’ interests and imaginative abilities. Architect and sketch artist Sunil Laddha, storyteller Rajat Meghnani, theatre artist Sunil Tank, and architect Priyanka Kothari were specially invited to interact with the students and guide them toward new ways of thinking and creativity.
A Day Full of Imagination and Expression
The programme began with a tribute to Kargil Vijay Diwas, where students were informed about India’s military victory and the sacrifices of brave soldiers, instilling a deep sense of patriotism.
Following this, students actively participated in sketching and story-writing sessions. Sunil Laddha taught the basics of sketch art, showing how even ordinary scenes can be transformed into beautiful works of art.
Rajat Meghnani conducted a story-writing workshop, introducing students to simple and engaging techniques to express imagination, emotions, and messages through words.
Theatre artist Sunil Tank introduced the basics of drama, while Priyanka Kothari explained the connection between design and creative thinking. She also gave insights into the field of architecture and introduced students to the concept of design thinking.
Recognising and Nurturing Student Talent
The aim of the event was not only to involve students in creative activities but also to recognise and develop their hidden talents. ‘No Bag Day’ was used as an open learning lab where imagination and experience took precedence over textbooks.
Both the school staff and parents appreciated this innovative initiative and observed a positive change in the children.
Sangeeta Choudhary, Bhoomika Bhawsar, Sunil Kothari, and several school teachers were also present on the occasion.
