Niroshan, Dhananjaya added to SL squad for India T20Is

Colombo, Feb 25 : Niroshan Dickwella and Dhananjaya De Silva have been drafted into Sri Lanka T20I squad against India in the ongoing three-match series. Sri Lanka suffered a 62-run defeat at the hands of India in the first game in Lucknow. The teams will meet on February 26 for the second T20I in Dharamshala. Niroshan and Dhananjaya have replaced injured Kusal Mendis and Maheesh Theekshana. Both Mendis and Theekshana had suffered hamstring injuries during the fifth T20I against Australia. Theekshana will now return home, the Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement. Wanindu Hasaranga, who was named in the squad but missed out the first match after testing positive for Covid-19 for a second time, will also return home from Australia. He was first infected during the T20I series against Australia and had to miss the last few games. On February 23, Sri Lanka Cricket had said, “Wanindu Hasaranga, who was in isolation after contracting Covid-19, has once again, returned a positive result when a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) was conducted on the player yesterday (February 22). A PCR test too confirmed the result. “He was first found to be positive during a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted on the February 15, 2022.
