Udaipur, January 2 (Udaipur Kiran): In a major boost to rural animal healthcare infrastructure, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has approved funding for the construction of 310 veterinary hospitals across Rajasthan, including 9 in Udaipur district and 2 in Salumber district. The total project cost stands at ₹144.15 crore, out of which ₹137.18 crore has been sanctioned under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), while the remaining amount will be borne by the state government.

According to Joint Director of Animal Husbandry Dr. Suresh Kumar Jain, the project is being implemented under RIDF–XXXI and aims to strengthen veterinary healthcare services in rural areas, improve animal health, and enhance livestock productivity. At present, many of these areas are functioning with temporary or inadequate facilities.
Details of Proposed Veterinary Hospitals
Under the project, nine veterinary hospitals will be constructed in Udaipur district at the following locations:
-
Gram Panchayat Gorana (Jhadol)
-
Gram Panchayat Panarwa (Phalasia)
-
Falichada and Sakariya Khedi (Mavli)
-
Barapal, Patiya and Dodawali (Girwa)
-
Bhatewar (Vallabhnagar)
-
Wali village (Kurabad)
Each hospital will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹46.50 lakh, of which ₹44.17 lakh will be funded under RIDF and ₹2.33 lakh will be borne by the state government.
In Salumber district, veterinary hospitals will be established at Jhallara and Banoda, with similar funding provisions.
Boost to Rural Livelihoods and Animal Healthcare
The new facilities will provide comprehensive veterinary services including disease diagnosis, vaccination, artificial insemination, animal health monitoring, and emergency treatment. These centres are expected to significantly reduce animal mortality, improve livestock productivity, and support dairy and livestock-based livelihoods in rural areas.
Dr. Jain stated that the project would greatly benefit farmers and livestock owners by ensuring timely and accessible veterinary care, reducing dependency on distant facilities, and improving overall animal health management.
Additional Infrastructure Development
In addition to new hospitals, funds have also been sanctioned for construction of boundary walls and infrastructure upgrades at several existing veterinary institutions in Udaipur district, including Chittorgarh, Naya Gaon, Mavli, Ghassa, Iswal, Bhinder and Badgaon.
