Quetta (Balochistan), Oct 23 (Udaipur Kiran): In a shocking incident, nine officials of a construction company have been abducted in Pakistan’s volatile province of Balochistan, triggering panic as far as Islamabad. Following the abduction, the Pakistan Army has cordoned off the area and launched a massive search operation, though the whereabouts of the kidnapped officials remain unknown.
According to a report by The Balochistan Post (Pashto edition), the incident took place on Wednesday in Mastung district, where armed men abducted nine officials working for a construction company. After the kidnapping, a group of armed individuals also blocked the Quetta-Karachi highway near Mangchar in Kalat district and began checking vehicles.
Sources said the blockade lasted for over an hour, during which gunfire and explosions were also heard. Following the incident, Pakistani security forces launched a search operation in and around the area.
As per Mastung Police, the abducted officials hail from Punjab and Sindh provinces and were working on a government development project at the time of the attack. Police officials said the armed assailants stormed the project site, surrounded the area, and forcibly took the officials away to an unknown location.
Authorities have so far not released any information about the identity or motive of the kidnappers.
