Newly Appointed Udaipur Collector Namit Mehta Takes Charge, Vows to Boost Tourism

Plans to Explore New Opportunities for Tourism Growth in Udaipur

Udaipur, February 3IAS officer Namit Mehta (2012 batch) officially took charge as the District Collector of Udaipur on Monday at the Collectorate.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector Mehta emphasized Udaipur’s global reputation as a top tourist destination and expressed his commitment to enhancing tourism in the city. He assured that efforts will be made in coordination with officials and tourism stakeholders to explore new possibilities and improve tourist experiences.

“We will work to ensure that tourists face minimal inconvenience and have a memorable visit to Udaipur. The district has immense tourism potential, and we will make all necessary efforts to further promote and develop it,” he stated.

Beyond tourism, Mehta reaffirmed his focus on swift grievance redressal for citizens and ensuring the efficient implementation of government welfare schemes.

Special Focus on Tribal Development

As Udaipur falls under the Tribal Area Development (TAD) jurisdiction, Mehta pledged to strengthen coordination with the TAD Commissioner to ensure that tribal communities receive the full benefits of government schemes.

He also mentioned that his probation period as an IAS officer was spent in Udaipur, giving him valuable firsthand experience in the district’s administrative and developmental challenges.

“My prior experience in Udaipur will help me understand local needs better and carry forward the good work of my predecessor,” he added.

Upon arriving at the Collectorate, Namit Mehta was greeted by senior officials, including:

Administrative Changes in Udaipur
