Patna, June 22 (Udaipur Kiran): The Bihar Economic Crime Unit (EOU) on Saturday submitted its report on the NEET paper leak case to the Union Education Ministry. The report includes statements of 13 accused, including four examinees arrested so far in the case. Copies of admit cards and remnants of burnt question papers seized during raids following the leak on May 5 have also been submitted.
An EOU official said that the central government has been given full information about the investigation so far. From copies of burnt NEET question papers recovered during raids in Patna to confessions of the arrested accused, the central government has been provided with all the details. The Union Education Ministry can review this report and take a decision on the exam.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has also called EOU ADG Nayyar Hasan Khan to Delhi. He will review the NEET exam with the ADG and top NTA officials on June 25.
The EOU said in the report that the NEET UG exam, held on May 5, was leaked a day before. The EOU prepared the report based on the investigation till last Friday, June 21, and submitted it to the Education Ministry on Saturday. The EOU has also submitted copies of statements of the 13 arrested accused, including NEET candidates. All of them are currently lodged in Beur Jail in Patna. Apart from this, other documents including admit cards, copies of remnants of burnt question papers recovered during the raids have also been handed over to the Education Ministry.
On the other hand, the Economic Crime Unit of Bihar Police, investigating the paper leak case, claimed on Saturday that it has obtained reference question papers for the NTA conducted exam. It also plans to match them with documents recovered from a flat in Patna during a raid last month. State police sources said that the EOU is also exploring the possibility of conducting narco analysis and brain mapping tests of some of the accused in the case.
They also indicated that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) may probe the money laundering aspect of alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) or NEET, a medical entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency in May. An EOU source said that the ED can investigate the case under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) based on the EOU’s FIR. The central agency is expected to start action to identify the proceeds of crime and attach the properties of the accused or suspects.
