Patna, May 6 – In light of rising tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack and renewed ceasefire violations by Pakistan, the Central Government has ordered a nationwide civil defence mock drill on Wednesday, May 7, to assess and strengthen readiness for wartime scenarios.

The mock drill will include a 10-minute blackout from 7:00 PM to 7:10 PM, accompanied by air raid sirens and simulated emergency protocols in several states, including six districts of Bihar: Patna, Purnia, Katihar, Begusarai, Araria, and Kishanganj.
🚨 What to Expect During the Mock Drill

6:58 PM: Sirens will sound at major intersections for approximately 2 minutes

7:00 PM to 7:10 PM: Complete blackout; power supply will be cut off

Vehicle movement restricted on roads during this time

The mock drill is intended to simulate air raid preparedness in case of wartime attacks
✅ What You Should Do During the Drill

Turn off all lights, including inverter-powered ones at homes and businesses

Park your vehicle safely on the roadside and switch off headlights

Avoid using mobile phones during the blackout period

Stay indoors and cooperate with local authorities

Remain calm – this is only a preparedness drill, not a real emergency

🏥 Hospitals and Essential Services Exempted
According to Purnia DM Kundan Kumar, hospitals have been excluded from the blackout. They are allowed to use inverters and backup systems during the drill. Emergency medical services will continue uninterrupted.

Patna DM Chandrashekhar informed that the drill is a rehearsal for emergency readiness and should not cause panic. Public cooperation is crucial to ensure the success of such nationwide safety exercises.
All district administrations have been instructed to conduct awareness campaigns and inform citizens through press conferences and local networks.
