MP Dr. Ravat Demands Night-Time and International Flights from Udaipur Airport in Lok Sabha
Udaipur | March 29, 2025
Member of Parliament Dr. Mannalal Ravat has raised a significant demand in the Lok Sabha for night-time flight operations and the commencement of regular international flights from Maharana Pratap Airport, Udaipur. He placed this demand under Rule 377, highlighting the need to enhance air connectivity to support tourism and economic growth in the region.

Udaipur: A Global Wedding and Tourism Hub
Speaking in the House, Dr. Ravat said, “Udaipur, the city of lakes, is a globally renowned tourist destination, celebrated for its rich history, heritage, culture, nature, and value-based lifestyle.” He noted that the city has recently emerged as a preferred global wedding destination, attracting high-profile domestic and international visitors every year.
Night-Time Flight Restrictions Causing Inconvenience
Dr. Ravat pointed out that currently, Maharana Pratap Airport operates only in two shifts – morning and evening. Due to DGCA restrictions, no scheduled or private flights are permitted at night, despite the airport having the necessary infrastructure for night operations. He stressed that this limitation is causing significant inconvenience to thousands of passengers and international tourists.
Appeal for Improved Connectivity
Emphasizing the urgent need for improved air connectivity, Dr. Ravat urged the government to:
-
Permit regular night-time scheduled flights and allow special/private aircraft operations at night from Udaipur Airport.
-
Start regular international flights to facilitate the growing number of foreign tourists visiting the city.
He concluded by saying that this move would greatly boost tourism, business, and regional development in Udaipur and surrounding areas.
