Ahmedabad, June 20 (Udaipur Kiran) – The monsoon has officially made its entry into the southern districts of Gujarat on Thursday, leading to heavy rainfall in several areas. Notable regions such as Kaprada, Vapi, and Umargam in Valsad, as well as Surat city and its tehsils, experienced torrential downpours. Between 8 AM and 10 AM, nine tehsils across the state reported rainfall, while thirteen tehsils saw rain between 6 AM and 8 AM.

Early Arrival and Current Status of Monsoon in Gujarat
This year, the monsoon arrived in South Gujarat on June 11, four days earlier than expected. Despite this early arrival, the monsoon has remained confined to South Gujarat for the past nine days, leaving other parts of the state to endure the heat. However, Thursday morning brought a shift in weather patterns, with the monsoon making a pronounced impact in the southern districts.
Rainfall Impact on Valsad and Other Areas
In Valsad city, heavy rainfall caused waterlogging on MG Road and flooded lower areas such as Chipwad Railway Underpass and Chipwad Danabazar. Over the past 24 hours, 35 tehsils across the state have reported rainfall. Umargam in Valsad received the highest rainfall with 3 inches, followed by Valsad city with nearly 3 inches. Other significant rainfall measurements include:
- Palsana in Surat: nearly 2 inches
- Jalalpor in Navsari: nearly 2 inches
- Navsari: 1.5 inches
- Pardi: 1.5 inches
- Chikhli: 1 inch
- Dang-Ahwa and Valia in Bharuch: 0.5 inches Other tehsils received rainfall ranging from 1 to 9 millimeters.
Weather Forecast for South Gujarat and Surrounding Regions
The weather department predicts continued heavy rainfall in South Gujarat on Thursday. In Saurashtra, various districts may experience heavy to light rain. Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Aravalli, Mahisagar, and Dahod. However, there is no rain forecast for Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar in Central Gujarat. For the past two days, these areas have seen cloudy skies, leading to increased humidity and discomfort among residents. These conditions are expected to persist for the next two days.
