Udaipur, February 28 (Udaipur Kiran): A joint programme titled “Shri Ann–Millet Kranti: Udaipur” was organised at the Town Planner Institute Auditorium under the aegis of Green People Society, Udaipur and Rotary Club Uday. The main objective of the event was to spread awareness among the public about the health benefits of traditional indigenous millets.

Addressing the gathering, Millet Siddh Acharya Ashok Sharma spoke in detail about the growing concern of diet-related diseases such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer. He explained the importance of millets in today’s lifestyle and said that a balanced and millet-based diet helps strengthen immunity and can bring noticeable improvement in many lifestyle-related diseases.
Acharya Sharma also shared information about traditional millets grown in different parts of the country, including kangni, sama, kodo, jowar and bajra. Highlighting their medicinal properties, he said research indicates that shifting away from traditional coarse grains to foreign food habits has contributed to rising health issues. He emphasised that reintroducing Shri Ann into daily meals can be a major step towards better health.
N.C. Jain of Samagram Sanstha presented the outline of upcoming millet awareness programmes. Rahul Bhatnagar, President of Green People Society, appealed to people to adopt a balanced diet and regular lifestyle. The programme was conducted by Suhail Majboor.
Members of Green People Society and Rotary Club Uday, along with several prominent citizens, were present on the occasion and gained valuable insights about the importance of Shri Ann.
