Marsh Sets Record with Fastest IPL Half-Century

Lucknow, May 7: In the 50th match of IPL 2026, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced off against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. LSG’s batsman Mitchell Marsh made headlines by scoring a blistering half-century in just 20 balls.

This marks the fastest half-century in IPL history for Marsh, and he also set the record for the second-fastest half-century at the Ekana Stadium. The record for the fastest half-century at this venue is held by Abhishek Sharma, who achieved the milestone in just 18 balls.

Marsh has now become the joint third-fastest batsman to score a half-century for LSG in IPL history. The fastest half-century for LSG is credited to Nicholas Pooran, who scored his fifty in just 15 balls against RCB in 2023.

For this match, LSG made three significant changes to their playing eleven due to injuries. Josh Inglis, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan were ruled out, with Arshin Kulkarni, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Digvijay Rathi stepping in to replace them. Despite their previous match loss, RCB did not make any changes to their lineup.

To keep their playoff hopes alive in IPL 2026, LSG must secure a win in this match. So far, they have only won 2 out of 9 matches, suffering losses in 7. The performance of LSG’s batsmen this season has been disappointing.
