Udaipur : A man-eating leopard has created terror in three villages under the Gogunda Gram Panchayat, located 45 km from Udaipur. The leopard has killed three people so far, spreading fear throughout the area. Villagers are too scared to leave their homes, and when they must, they travel in groups for safety.
The Forest Department and the Army have launched a search operation. On the night of September 19, the team monitored three locations using night-vision binoculars, but no trace of the leopard was found. A team from Bhaskar visited the victims’ villages, met with their families, and explored the forest where the leopard has been sighted.
Victims of the Leopard Attacks:
- On the morning of September 19 at 8 a.m., Kamla (16) from Undithal village went to the forest to graze goats. Her partially eaten body was found in the bushes.
- On the evening of September 19 at 6:30 p.m., Khumar Ram Gameti (45) from Bhevadiya village was attacked and killed by the leopard.
- On the morning of September 20 at 11 a.m., a woman from Malaria Khurd village was attacked but managed to escape.
- On the evening of September 20 at 6:30 p.m., a woman from Umariya village was killed by the leopard.
Army Joins the Search The Forest Department and Army teams are continuing the search for the man-eating leopard. Senior officials from the Forest Department have camped near the forests, closely monitoring the leopard’s movements. According to Dr. Naresh Soni, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Gogunda, an Army team led by Captain Sandeep Chaudhary, along with eight soldiers, has been stationed in Chhali village since the night of September 20.
