Udaipur, July 15: A case of alleged kidnapping, assault and robbery of a youth has come to light in the Sukher police station area of Udaipur. The accused allegedly fled after snatching the victim’s mobile phone, ₹20,000 in cash and a gold chain. A CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced, showing the victim being forcibly taken away by the accused.
Station House Officer Bharat Yogi said the victim has lodged a complaint against 11 persons. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the matter is linked to a financial dispute. Police are examining the CCTV footage and searching for the accused.
According to the complaint filed by Mahendra Singh Bhati, a resident of Chikhla in the Sukher area, he had gone to New Ashapura Hotel late on the night of July 12 when he was allegedly abducted. He claimed that five persons arrived in a Tata Nexon car, surrounded him and identified themselves as police personnel before forcibly taking him away.
The complainant alleged that he was taken towards a forest area beyond the Negadiya Toll Plaza, where several other individuals were already present. He claimed that he was assaulted, struck on the head and threatened with a pistol.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly pressured him to arrange ₹5 lakh immediately. The victim further alleged that one of the accused attempted to pour petrol on him and threatened to kill him. He also claimed that he was warned against approaching the police and was threatened with dire consequences if he reported the matter.
