Malda Division Conducts Ticket Checking Drive, 652 Without Tickets Caught

Malda, February 15: The Malda Division of Eastern Railway launched a special ticket checking campaign to strengthen ticket discipline and protect railway revenue. Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Manish Kumar Gupta, the drive was conducted on February 15, 2026, under the personal supervision of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Kartik Singh.

The campaign began with a thorough inspection of train number 13409 Malda Town-Kiul Intercity Express at Malda Town station. Following this, continuous checks were conducted covering stations including Barharwa, Karanpur, Tinpahar, Sahibganj, and Bhagalpur, extending from Malda Town to the Sahibganj, Bhagalpur, and Jamalpur sections. Intensive checks were also carried out at Tinpahar station and on trains passing through, particularly the Rajmahal-Tinpahar passenger train. Further actions were taken on trains at Sahibganj and Bhagalpur stations, ensuring strict adherence to ticketing rules across the entire route.

Commercial inspectors, ticket checking staff from Sahibganj, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, and Malda squads, along with personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), played an active role in this special drive. The objective was to effectively implement ticketing rules, prevent ticketless travel, secure railway income, and promote responsible travel behavior among passengers.

During the intensive checking, a total of 652 cases were detected, including instances of ticketless or irregular travel. A penalty of ₹3,70,805 was collected from these cases, contributing to the railway’s revenue and aiding in increasing the division’s income. The Malda Division has conducted several such drives in recent months, successfully curbing ticketless travel.

The Malda Division has appealed to all passengers to travel with valid and proper tickets to avoid inconvenience and fines. Passengers are advised to book digital tickets through the Railvan app and utilize digital and contactless payment options, ensuring a safe, transparent, and convenient travel experience. This initiative is part of Eastern Railway’s broader policy aimed at preventing ticket fraud and ensuring passenger safety.

The division is committed to maintaining discipline through regular drives, making rail travel more organized and reliable. Cooperation from passengers is expected to ensure better rail services for all.
