Bhopal, May 19: Madhya Pradesh’s Tribal Affairs Minister Vijay Shah has announced significant changes in the lives of the tribal community in the state, emphasizing their integration into the mainstream. During the inaugural session of a workshop on technology-based sustainable tribal development concepts at the Aadi Bhawan in the capital, Shah highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has understood the struggles of the tribal society and has formulated effective policies to ensure their participation in the development process. Initiatives like the Janman Yojana and the Dharati Aaba Gram Utkarsh are making substantial progress for the upliftment of the tribal community.
Shah, who has represented the tribal area since 1990, stated that continuous efforts have been made to work alongside the tribal society. He urged departmental officials to regularly visit villages and forest-dwelling regions to closely observe the living conditions and understand the challenges faced by the community.
To ensure that various government schemes reach the tribal population, a campaign titled ‘Jan Bhagidari – Sabse Door, Sabse Pehle’ is being launched. This initiative aims to provide benefits from 25 schemes across 18 departments to tribal villagers through camps.
Discussing the work being done in the forest-dwelling areas under Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s leadership, Shah noted that since the 1990s, conditions have changed, and today the tribal society is part of the development mainstream.
Minister Dr. Shah also mentioned that he is distributing 50,000 water bottles in Anganwadi centers within his assembly constituency and has provided drinking water bottles to 45,000 children from classes one to twelve. Water coolers and RO systems have been installed in 150 gram panchayats, ensuring access to clean drinking water in every village and school.
He acknowledged that tribal girls often hesitate to attend colleges in the city and may drop out due to a lack of facilities. To address this, he has initiated the operation of four buses in his area, which has increased the number of girls attending college from 30% to 80%.
Shah emphasized that this facility should be expanded to other areas. The workshop also featured discussions on departmental schemes by Commissioner of Tribal Area Development Dr. Satendra Singh, and presentations on the application of artificial intelligence in livelihood and employment by Dr. Sanyam Shukla, an associate professor at MANIT, and on GIS and satellite remote sensing in sustainable tribal development by Dr. Kumar Gaurav from IISER.
