Chittorgarh, March 15, 2026 (Mukesh Mundra): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said there can be no compromise on the dignity and safety of women and asserted that a policy of zero tolerance against crime and criminals has been implemented in Uttar Pradesh. He was addressing the Jauhar Shraddhanjali ceremony at the historic Chittorgarh Fort, where he paid tribute to the brave women who sacrificed their lives in the flames of Jauhar.

Paying homage on the sacred land of Chittorgarh, a symbol of bravery, sacrifice and self-respect, the Chief Minister said the memory of the courageous women who dedicated everything for the protection of Sanatan Dharma, dignity and the motherland is unparalleled in history. He said the traditions of sacrifice and valor can be learned from the legacy of Chittorgarh Fort.
Yogi Adityanath stated that society cannot compromise on the safety and respect of sisters and daughters. “In Uttar Pradesh, a zero-tolerance policy has been adopted against crime and criminals, and anti-social elements have been compelled to remain within the framework of the law,” he said.
He further remarked that dividing society on the basis of caste would only strengthen forces that seek to weaken the country. According to him, those who question India’s constitutional institutions cannot be considered true patriots. “The values and dignity of Sanatan traditions are eternal and cannot be undermined,” he said.
Referring to the historical event of 1303, the Chief Minister said the flames of Jauhar that rose from this fort continue to inspire self-respect and courage for generations. He added that the Jauhar Shraddhanjali ceremony is not merely a symbol of struggles for power or empire but represents Indian identity, women’s honour and security. The event, he said, also conveys the message that no daughter should ever have to face such circumstances in the future and that every woman must be guaranteed safety and dignity.
Presiding over the programme, Mewar Maharana Vishvaraj Singh Mewar said preserving the region’s rich cultural and historical heritage is a collective responsibility. He stated that history does not belong to a single caste or community but to everyone, and failure to protect this legacy would raise serious questions for future generations. He also emphasised that historical sites should be viewed from the perspective of history rather than entertainment, as history offers an opportunity for reflection.
Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said Chittorgarh Fort symbolises India’s pride, identity and indomitable spirit. He noted that since the fort is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list, certain limitations exist regarding development works, but efforts are being made to ensure that visitors leave with a sense of national pride and inspiration. He also mentioned a proposal to establish an experience centre at the fort.
Welcoming the guests, MLA Chandrabhan Singh Aakya said the Jauhar Shraddhanjali ceremony has gained wider participation from all sections of society, strengthening Chittorgarh’s tradition of culture and valor.
During the programme, guests also released the book “Jaymal Vansh Prakash” written by former Governor V.P. Singh Badnore. Individuals with outstanding achievements were also honoured on the occasion.
Several public representatives addressed the gathering, including Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Cooperation Gautam Dak, MLAs Shrichand Kriplani, Arjunlal Jingar, Ravindra Singh Bhati, Virendra Singh Kanawat, and Dilip Singh Parihar.
President of Jauhar Smriti Sansthan Rao Narendra Singh Vijaypur welcomed the dignitaries, while General Secretary Tejpal Singh Shaktawat presented the report.
Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived at the police line helipad where he was received by Minister of State Gautam Dak, MP C.P. Joshi, MLAs Chandrabhan Singh Aakya, Shrichand Kriplani, Arjunlal Jingar, Ashok Kothari, Virendra Singh Kanawat and Dilip Singh Parihar, along with District Collector Alok Ranjan and Superintendent of Police Manish Tripathi.
