Lok Adalat Orders Bajaj Insurance to Pay Claim with Interest

Udaipur, February 19, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) – The Permanent Lok Adalat in Udaipur has directed Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company to pay a health insurance claim along with interest and litigation expenses after it rejected reimbursement despite an active policy.

The order was passed in favour of Pramod Kumar, a resident of RK Puram Sector 9, who had purchased a “Complete Family Health Gold” policy from the insurance company. The policy was valid from November 16, 2022 to November 15, 2023.

According to the petition filed on May 24, 2024 through advocates Chetan Chaudhary and Manish Choubisa, Pramod Kumar was admitted to Geetanjali Hospital on December 3, 2022 after experiencing chest pain. He incurred medical expenses of ₹1,35,068 during treatment.

Despite the policy being in force, the insurance company rejected the claim stating that the treatment was undertaken within 30 days and fell under the waiting period clause.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the bench comprising Presiding Officer Mahendra Singh Sisodia and members Rajendra Singh Rathore and Dr. Garima Gupta ruled in favour of the complainant. The court ordered the company to pay the claim amount of ₹1,35,068 along with 6 percent annual interest from the date of claim rejection. It also directed the company to pay ₹5,100 separately towards litigation expenses within 30 days.
