Neem Ka Thana, August 11 (Udaipur Kiran): A male leopard died in a road accident near Teliyala Mod in Neem Ka Thana. The leopard was hunting a nilgai when it was hit by an overloaded trailer. The accident occurred about a kilometer away from Malodi, near Teliyala Mod.
The leopard was chasing the nilgai when it was struck by a trailer loaded with stones. The trailer’s tire ran over the leopard’s head, causing instant death. Local residents discovered the leopard’s body on the road in the morning, leading to a crowd gathering at the scene. The forest department team arrived on the scene after receiving information and began an investigation.
Ramsharan Gurjar, a local resident, reported that the incident occurred between 3:00 to 3:30 AM on Sunday when an overloaded trailer hit the leopard as it was crossing the road. The leopard died on the spot.
Mahesh Kumar from the forest department mentioned that the leopard was running after a nilgai when it was hit by an unknown vehicle while crossing the road. Initial investigations suggest that it might not have been the overloaded trailer but a smaller vehicle or car that struck the leopard. Footprints of both the leopard and nilgai were found at the scene. The leopard’s body was moved to Patan Forest Range using a JCB and a pickup truck.
