Udaipur, May 9 (Udaipur Kiran) — A leopard trapped in a cage in Udaipur’s Upli Badi area was rescued by the forest department and shifted to Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary.

Villagers had been living in fear for the past five days due to the leopard’s movement in the area. The animal had attacked a woman, leaving her seriously injured, and she later died.
Even after the leopard was captured, fear among villagers has not completely ended. Forest department officials have appealed to people to remain alert, especially in residential areas near forests. Residents have been advised not to move alone outside during night hours and to take precautions.
Five days ago, Bhuri Bai (52), wife of Banshilal Gameti and a resident of Gameti Basti, had stepped out of her mud house towards the courtyard around 2 am. During this time, the leopard, which was hiding in the darkness, attacked her.
The leopard attacked the woman on her face and neck and dug its teeth into her. Despite the sudden attack, the woman raised an alarm loudly, after which the leopard got frightened and ran towards the nearby forest.
The woman was seriously injured in the attack and was immediately taken to hospital, where she later died.
