There’s a reason why classic songs are still on the radio. That’s why HMD uses the Lumia design language in newer phones, including Skyline. Perhaps the best Lumia among them is the Lumia 1020. This is thanks to the impressive 41-megapixel sensor housed in the circular camera island on the back.
HMD appears to be using the exact same design for its upcoming model. There are four lenses (and an LED flash) in the central circular island, as seen in the image below.

It’s not an HMD Hyper, it has a rectangular island in the top left like the Skyline. There haven’t been any recent leaks of similar-looking HMD phones. The Hyper looks like a lower mid-range device, but it will be in the upper price segment.
We don’t have any specs aside from the number of cameras: the Skyline is the most sophisticated HMD phone camera-wise, and the first to feature three cameras (not counting macro phones). It looks like the 1020 will be HMD’s first quad-camera phone.
The Skyline’s 108+50+13MP camera certainly has solid hardware, but the overall package lacks some features. However, this camera is not on par with the flagship Lumia. While the Lumia lost the resolution crown years ago, the high-quality image processing that defined the Lumias (and the PureView before it) has been learned over the years, so HMD still has a long way to go if it wants to hit the mainstream. Cameras are king.
