Udaipur (Udaipur Kiran): Advocates staged a strong protest demanding a review of the Supreme Court’s decision related to the protection of the Aravalli hills. Under the joint banner of the Advocate Parishad, Udaipur unit, and the Bar Association, Udaipur, a memorandum addressed to the President was submitted to the District Collector on Saturday.

In the memorandum, the advocates stated that the Supreme Court’s verdict dated November 20, 2025, on Aravalli hill protection requires urgent reconsideration. According to the decision, only hills higher than 100 metres would be treated as part of the Aravalli range. The advocates said this would leave nearly 90 per cent of the Aravalli hills outside the ambit of legal protection.
The memorandum urged that the decision of the Supreme Court of India be reviewed and necessary steps be taken to ensure comprehensive protection of the Aravalli hills. The advocates said conservation of the Aravalli range is not only crucial from an environmental perspective but is also directly linked to the livelihood and lives of millions of tribal people, as well as to the country’s water security, making it a matter of fundamental rights.
The Bar Association, Udaipur, and Advocate Parishad highlighted the significance of the Aravalli hills, stating that they play a vital role in addressing climate change, groundwater recharge, and biodiversity conservation. Protection of the Aravallis, they said, supports groundwater replenishment, helps prevent desertification, and aids in regulating the monsoon for Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan.
Earlier, advocates associated with the Bar Association and Advocate Parishad gathered at the District Court परिसर and marched in protest to the District Collectorate, raising slogans and staging a demonstration. The public meeting there was addressed by newly elected Bar President Jitendra Jain, Advocate Parishad Udaipur unit president Manish Sharma, senior advocates Ramesh Nandwana, Shambhu Singh Rathore, Ram Kripa Sharma, Arun Vyas, Satyendrapal Singh Chhabra, Manaram Dangi, Rao Ratan Singh, and Rakesh Mogra, among others.
Advocates from both organisations then proceeded in a procession from the District Court to the District Collector’s office and submitted the memorandum addressed to the President to Additional District Collector (Administration) Dipendra Singh Rathore.
At the time of submission, newly elected Bar Vice-President Mahendra Menaria, General Secretary Lokesh Gurjar, Secretary Ashish Kothari, Finance Secretary Dharmendra Soni, Library Secretary Vinod Audichya, Advocate Parishad district general secretary Vishnu Shankar Paliwal, district president Chandrabhan Singh Shaktawat, Mahaveer Sharma, senior advocate Rajesh Singhvi, Ghanshyam Singh Chauhan, Gopal Paliwal, Harish Paliwal, Prem Singh Pawar, Jitendra Singh Likhari, Vandana Udawat, Kanta Nagda, Hanif Khan, Sabir Chhipa, and hundreds of advocates were present at the protest site.
