Udaipur : Lake City, Udaipur, remained shrouded in dense fog for the third consecutive day, with the sun hidden behind thick clouds. Visibility was so poor on Friday that flights scheduled to land at Udaipur had to be diverted, as the distance visible was barely 200 meters. Iconic landmarks like the Nehru Garden in the middle of Fatehsagar Lake were entirely obscured by the mist.
Adding to the wintry charm, light rainfall, or mawath, persisted from Thursday night into the early hours of Friday. Ognas recorded the highest rainfall in the district with 41 mm (two inches), while the city itself received 5 mm. The overcast skies and intermittent drizzle have kept temperatures steady, but a significant drop is expected once the clouds clear.
Tourists Delight in Kashmir-Like Weather
Despite the inconvenience caused by fog and diverted flights, tourists visiting Udaipur to celebrate New Year’s Eve were thrilled by the weather. The mist-covered lakes and verdant surroundings offered a surreal, Kashmir-like experience. Many visitors captured the picturesque scenes of foggy landscapes around the city’s famous lakes and gardens.
The meteorological department at Dabok reported that Udaipur’s maximum temperature was 22.4°C, while the minimum stood at 15.6°C—a narrow difference of just seven degrees. Officials anticipate a sharp decline in temperatures once the weather clears.
Rainfall Highlights Across the Region
According to the irrigation department, Ognas received the highest rainfall at 41 mm, followed by Gogunda with 20 mm, Udaipur city with 5 mm, Udaysagar at 12 mm, and Vallabhnagar with 15 mm. Other parts of the district also reported light showers.
