Kumaraswamy meets Rahul, Sonia Gandhi ahead of swearing-in

The leaders are believed to have given final touches to power-sharing arrangements in Karnataka including ministerial berths and a common agenda of an alliance.

As B S Yeddyurappa stepped down as the chief minister without facing the floor test in the state Assembly as the Bharatiya Janata Party fell short of numbers, All eyes were on JD(S) leader HD  Kumaraswamy who met Congress president Rahul Gandhi and the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Monday. The talks veered about the allocation of ministerial berths and the common agenda for the coalition government in the state.

Kumaraswamy has met state Governor Vajubhai Vala and has been invited to form the government.

Senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ashok Gehlot and K C Venugopal also met Rahul Gandhi and apprised him about the sense prevailing among the party MLAs in the state. The meeting of Kumaraswamy with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi was to give final touches to the power-sharing arrangement in the southern state.

He also met BSP chief Mayawati while his stay in the national capital. JD(S) had a pre-poll alliance with BSP and the later has a single MLA in the JD(S) camp. 

Kumaraswamy will take oath as the chief minister on May 23 in Bengaluru.
