JSW MG Motor India launched several initiatives to strengthen the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in India during the DriEV.Bharat event at the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. It introduced new technologies to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and improve overall infrastructure. These include projects related to new charging platforms and the reuse of electric vehicle batteries. At the event, the automaker also announced its partnership with Reliance Jio to introduce in-car entertainment solutions that will be installed in all MG vehicles.

EV Initiatives JSW MG Motor India

JSW MG Motor India is a joint venture between India’s JSW Group and China-based SAIC Motor, which sells internal combustion engine (ICE) cars and electric vehicles in India. At this event we presented MG’s eHUB for the first time. It is a platform designed to simplify electric vehicle charging infrastructure by providing a single platform developed by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

JSW MG Motor India claims that the eHUB makes planning an electric trip a breeze by introducing a simple process to find, book and pay for a charging station. To achieve this, we have collaborated with leading players such as Adani Total Energies Limited (ATEL), BPCL, Chargezone, Glida, HPCL and Jio-BP. eHUB MG is available in 11 languages and also has a trip planning feature. It can be downloaded from Google Play Store and App Store.

The REVIVE project was also presented at this event. With this, JSW MG Motor India plans to reuse old electric vehicle batteries to power schools and community centers. The company is working with the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and lithium-ion battery manufacturer ROHM to reuse healthy battery components. The company said it is conducting a trial in a school in Mukteshwar.

As the world gets excited about artificial intelligence (AI), JSW MG Motor India has launched an AI chatbot called eVir. It was developed as part of the EVPEDIA experience, which aims to provide relevant information on electric vehicles, including tools and calculators for calculating operating costs, research articles and publications, and government policies on electric vehicles. The information will be presented through interactive displays, educational videos and live demonstrations, the company said. AI chatbots are a solution for answering driver questions on the go.

Partnership with Reliance Jio

JSW MG Motor India also announces a partnership with Reliance Jio to launch the innovative MG-Jio Connectivity Platform (MG-Jio ICP), an experience designed to meet the entertainment, gaming and learning needs of drivers. The technology stack includes MG Store, Car App Store and voice commands in six Indian languages. It is also said to offer a home-to-car feature, allowing users to monitor and control vehicle systems such as locking/unlocking, interior temperature and fuel level directly from home.
