J&K Governor NN Vohra calls all-party meeting today

The governor took stock of the situation and also took some decisions to clear pendancies related to rehabilitation of victims of terrorism and regularisation of nearly a lakh casual workers. Combating terrorism and ensuring fool proof security for the Amarnath Yatra remain the top priority of the state’s police and security forces.

Police and security forces have their work cut out for them. Apart from preventing terror attacks and thwarting protesters, they also have to contend with matters such as state BJP President Ravindra Raina who claims he’s received threats over the phone from across the border.

Meanwhile separatist leaders Yasin Malik and Hilal War were put under house arrest by the police. Two days after withdrawing support from the alliance govt, BJP’s Jammu & Kashmir Incharge Ram Madhav said the party has its own view on how the situation should move forward in the state to ensure peace and development.

“Decision never had electoral consideration behind it, it was for larger interest of nation & J&K’s ppl. We’ve abandoned govt in J&K not ppl of the state. We’ll work for betterment. We had a 4 pronged strategy, incl. hot pursuit against terrorists that will continue”, Ram Madhav said.

Clearly, after the fall of the Mehbooba Mufti-led state govt, the focus in Jammu & Kashmir is on providing peace, security and development oreinted governance to the people. An All Party Meet called by the Governor to get all stakeholders on board could prove to be a step in the right direction.
