Jio AirFiber Set to Launch on September 19: Price, Specs, and Differences from Current JioFiber Connection

Reliance Jio is gearing up to introduce a novel wireless internet service called Jio AirFiber on September 19, 2023. This service is tailored to provide portable wireless internet connectivity for both homes and offices, promising blazing speeds of up to 1.5 Gbps.

Users can anticipate seamless streaming of high-definition videos, online gaming, and lag-free video conferencing with Jio AirFiber. During the 2023 AGM, Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, disclosed that Jio AirFiber would officially launch on Ganesh Chaturthi.

Jio AirFiber also comes equipped with several features, including parental controls, support for Wi-Fi 6, and an integrated security firewall. It’s important to note that Jio AirFiber was initially introduced at the company’s 45th AGM last year.

Let’s delve into what Jio AirFiber is and how it distinguishes itself from the standard JioFiber internet connection.

What is Jio AirFiber? Jio AirFiber is an innovative wireless internet service by Jio that utilizes 5G technology to provide high-speed internet access. It offers speeds that are comparable to traditional fiber-optic connections, with users enjoying speeds of up to 1 Gbps.

Jio emphasizes that Jio AirFiber is not only compact but also incredibly easy to set up. They state, “You just have to plug it in, turn it on, and that’s it. You now have a personal Wi-Fi hotspot in your home, connected to ultra-high-speed internet using True 5G. With JioAirFiber, it will be really easy to quickly connect your home or office to Gigabit-speed Internet.”

Jio AirFiber vs. JioFiber

  1. Technology: Jio Fiber relies on wired fiber optic cables for its connectivity, whereas Jio AirFiber adopts a wireless approach using point-to-point radio links. This means that Jio AirFiber directly connects homes and offices to Jio through wireless signals, eliminating the need for fiber cables. It relies on line-of-sight communication with Jio towers.
  2. Speed: Jio AirFiber claims to offer internet speeds of up to 1.5 Gbps, surpassing the 1 Gbps speed of Jio Fiber. However, it’s essential to note that the actual speed of Jio AirFiber may vary depending on the proximity to the nearest tower.
  3. Coverage: While Jio Fiber offers broader coverage, it is not available nationwide. In contrast, JioAirFiber’s wireless technology allows it to offer extensive coverage without being constrained by physical infrastructure.
  4. Installation: Jio AirFiber is designed to be plug-and-play, making it more user-friendly and accessible for customers. In contrast, Jio Fiber typically requires professional installation.
  5. Cost: Jio AirFiber’s pricing is expected to be competitive, potentially costing around Rs 6,000. This may be slightly more expensive than traditional broadband connections due to the inclusion of a portable device unit.

Jio AirFiber offers more than just high-speed internet. It also provides parental control tools, Wi-Fi 6 support, integration with the Jio set-top box, and greater network control.”
