Jeep swept away in Udaipur, Beneshwar dhaam turns into island

Udaipur : A jeep swept away in the raging rain water on Saturday morning as showers continued to batter Udaipur on the third consecutive day. A jeep that was passing through the Leniyakala puliya near Odha in Jhadol block was washed away by flooding water as the river was overflowing. A portion of the bridge was damaged due to water force,however the driver could not judge the gravity of the situation and drove through the water which caused the mishap.Fortunately, villagers managed to rescue two men including the driver from the jeep.

Beneshwar Dham, the holy place in Dungarpur district, situated at the confluence of the three rivers Som, Mahi and Jakham, was transformed into an island on Saturday after the three major roads connecting it to Sabla and Nithaua in Dungarpur and Lohariya in Banswara were submerged in the rain waters. Commutation remained affected in the area for more than 12 hours as the increased water level caused submergence of the ramp like roads leading to the temple. Some 25 persons including the temple priest and some shopkeepers are told to be stuck up in the island as water was flowing three to five feet above the all the three roads connecting the temple to the main land.

In Banswara, the Mahi dam water was gauged at 280.40 meters by saturday evening while the full capacity of the dam is 281.50 meters. A mud house reportedly collapsed a day ago in Kherot village of Pratapgarh district, luckily now casualty was reported. In another incident, Kamla Bai wife of Devilal Meena sustained burn injuries after lightening struck their home in Viravali village here.
