Ishan Kishan Named Jharkhand Captain for Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26

Ranchi, 22 December (Udaipur Kiran) – The Jharkhand State Cricket Association has announced the team for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy Elite 2025-26, appointing wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan as the captain. The 50-over domestic tournament will begin on 24 December, with Jharkhand starting their campaign against Karnataka in Ahmedabad.

The announced Jharkhand squad features a balanced mix of experienced and young players. The team includes Kumar Kushagra, Anukul Roy, Robin Minz, Abhinav Sharan, and Virat Singh, who are expected to perform strongly in white-ball cricket in the coming years.

Ishan Kishan’s appointment as captain comes after his outstanding performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26. Under his leadership, Jharkhand won the SMA Trophy for the first time. Kishan scored 517 runs in 10 innings during the tournament, including two centuries and two half-centuries. His powerful innings of 101 runs in the final against Haryana proved to be the decisive factor in the victory. This impressive domestic form has also earned him a return to the Indian national team.

Kishan has been selected as the second wicketkeeper-batsman for India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, serving as an option after Sanju Samson.
