Banswara, March 15, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): Dynamic 2018-batch IPS officer Jyeshtha Maitreyi, who has become a source of inspiration for thousands of aspirants preparing for competitive examinations, will take charge as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Banswara district on Thursday. Known for her knowledge, sensitivity and dedication to service, Maitreyi is regarded not only as a firm police officer but also as a mentor and motivator for young people.

Born to Girish Chandra Arya, an employee of the Electricity Board in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district, and Manju Devi, a school principal, Jyeshtha Maitreyi grew up with strong cultural and moral values. The values instilled by her family guided her toward honesty, sensitivity and a spirit of public service. True to her name, she is widely recognised as a thoughtful, knowledgeable and committed officer.
Inspiring Youth Aspirants
After clearing the Indian Police Service in her very first attempt, Maitreyi did not limit herself to administrative duties alone. She has emerged as a guide for young aspirants preparing for the UPSC examination across the country. Through lectures delivered at various coaching institutes and academic platforms in Delhi, she has helped thousands of students understand the path to civil services.
Her sessions go beyond examination strategy and often emphasise discipline, perseverance, confidence and a sense of responsibility towards society. This approach has made her a youth icon among competitive exam aspirants.
Commitment to Service in Uniform
Transferred from the CID-CB at Police Headquarters, Maitreyi has been working with dedication on preventing crime, ensuring the safety of women and children, tackling cybercrime and strengthening law and order. Helping the poor and the needy has also remained an important aspect of her work.
Implementing the DGP’s Vision
She is actively working in line with the vision of Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma for the effective implementation of new criminal laws, with the aim of ensuring speedy justice for victims of crime. She also focuses on initiatives such as de-addiction campaigns, social awareness programmes and the welfare of police personnel and their families, while aligning her work with the priorities of the Rajasthan Police.
New Vision for Banswara Police
Maitreyi has said that establishing direct communication with the public and understanding their expectations will be among her key priorities. She emphasised that strengthening trust between the police and citizens is essential for building a sense of security. To achieve this, an effective communication system will be developed, and police personnel will be encouraged to act with greater sensitivity and accountability to provide prompt and reliable assistance to the public.
Guidance for Tribal Youth
As she prepares to take charge in Banswara, a tribal-dominated district, Maitreyi sees both a new responsibility and an opportunity. She plans to motivate and guide local youth in preparing for competitive examinations. According to her, remote and tribal regions of the country have immense talent, and what is needed is proper guidance and opportunities. Through direct interaction with young people, she aims to encourage them to dream big and work towards achieving those dreams.
Building Trust Between Police and Public
Maitreyi believes that the stronger the bond of trust between the police and citizens, the safer and more peaceful society will become. With this approach, she plans to strengthen communication with residents across the district, listen to their concerns and work towards timely solutions.
Her journey is not just the story of becoming a senior police officer but also a narrative of perseverance, values and service. Behind the firmness of the uniform lies a sensitive heart and a commitment to contribute positively to society—qualities that make Jyeshtha Maitreyi a living inspiration for many young people.
