Indore-Dahod Rail Project: Electric Engine Speed Trial Between Tihi and Dhar on November 2
Indore, November 2, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): An electric engine speed trial will be conducted on November 2 on the newly constructed railway section between Tihi and Dhar under the Indore-Dahod new rail line project. During the trial, the engine will run at speeds of up to 130 kmph to assess the railway track and electrification system.
The trial will begin at 8:30 AM from Tihi railway station.

Mukesh Kumar, Public Relations Officer of the Ratlam Division of Western Railway, said that electrification work on this section has been completed. Preparations are underway to charge the 25,000-volt overhead electric line. The Construction Department will conduct the speed trial on Monday ahead of the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) inspection.
Engine Speed to Be Tested in Four Stages
During the trial, the electric engine will run at different speeds between Tihi and Dhar and on the return journey from Dhar to Tihi.
In the first stage, the engine will run at 30 kmph from Tihi to Dhar and at 75 kmph from Dhar to Tihi.
In the next stage, the speed will be increased to 110 kmph from Tihi to Dhar and up to 130 kmph from Dhar to Tihi.
The trial will assess the operational capacity of the newly electrified railway section. Following the test, the process for the CRS inspection of the section will move forward.
People Advised to Stay Away from Tracks
In view of the speed trial, the railway administration has appealed to villagers, farmers and livestock owners living near the Tihi-Dhar railway section to remain alert.
People have been advised not to walk or sit on the railway tracks or go near the tracks to take photographs or record videos during the trial. They have also been asked not to let cattle roam near the railway line.
According to the Railways, it is difficult to judge the actual speed of a train by looking at it from a distance. Attempting to cross the tracks or move close to a moving train can therefore be dangerous.
25,000-Volt Overhead Line Poses Safety Risk
Following electrification, the overhead wires on the railway section will carry 25,000 volts of electricity.
The Railways has warned people to stay away from overhead wires, electric poles and other railway equipment. They have also been advised not to carry objects such as sticks, pipes or wires near the tracks.
The railway administration said that following safety instructions can help prevent possible accidents during the trial.
