Mumbai, May 2: India has announced its squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Saturday. Yastika Bhatia and Radha Yadav have made a return to the team, while uncapped fast bowler Nandini Sharma has been included.
The announcement was made during a press conference at the BCCI headquarters, attended by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, chief selector Amita Sharma, and secretary Devjeet Saikia.
The selection committee met earlier in the day at the board headquarters, where Harmanpreet and head coach Amol Majumdar were also present. Following this meeting, the 15-member squad was finalized. This team will also play three T20 matches against England from May 28 to June 2.
Radha’s return comes after her impressive performance in last year’s T20 series victory in England. She has continued to excel as an all-rounder this year. Meanwhile, Yastika has recovered from knee surgery to rejoin the team after missing the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 due to injury sustained during a camp in Visakhapatnam.
Nandini has emerged as a star in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026, where she became the first Indian to take a hat-trick in the tournament.
In the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, India is placed in ‘Group 1’ alongside six-time champions Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands. India is the first country to announce its squad for this major tournament, which will take place from June 12 to July 5.
Under Harmanpreet Kaur’s captaincy, the Indian team will begin its campaign against Pakistan on June 14 in Birmingham. They will then face the Netherlands (June 17, Leeds), South Africa (June 21, Manchester), Bangladesh (June 25, Manchester), and Australia (June 28, Lord’s).
India has yet to win a global title in the shortest format, having been the runners-up in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2020. After winning the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, the Indian team aims to end its title drought in the T20 format as well.
Indian Team: Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain), Smriti Mandhana (Vice-Captain), Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Bharti Fulmali, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (Wicketkeeper), Shri Charani, Yastika Bhatia (Wicketkeeper), Nandini Sharma, Arundhati Reddy, Renuka Singh Thakur, Kranti Gaud, Shreyanka Patil, and Radha Yadav.
