Indian Cricketer Rinku Singhs Father Passes Away

Greater Noida, February 27: Rinku Singh, the Indian cricketer, is mourning the loss of his father, Khan Chand Singh, who passed away early Friday morning after a prolonged battle with liver cancer. He was reported to be suffering from stage four liver cancer and had been in critical condition for several days.

On February 21, his health deteriorated significantly, leading to his admission at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida, where he was placed on ventilator support. According to hospital sources, he took his last breath around 4:36 AM on Friday. The news of his passing sent shockwaves through the family, with official confirmation of his death coming around 5 AM. Following this, family members departed with his mortal remains for their home.

Upon learning about his father’s declining health, Rinku Singh left the Indian team and returned home immediately from Chennai, where he was participating in practice sessions. He had to leave the team during the T20 World Cup to be with his family. After fulfilling his familial responsibilities, Rinku returned to Chennai on February 25 to rejoin the team. However, he was not part of the playing eleven in the Super-8 match against Zimbabwe on February 26, although he was present as a substitute player.

Rinku Singh comes from a family of five brothers, and his father worked in cylinder delivery. The family’s financial situation was not strong, prompting all the brothers to assist their father. They would transport two cylinders on their bikes to deliver gas to homes and hotels. Rinku faced significant struggles to pursue cricket, often pooling money with friends to buy a ball. Today, he is a prominent name in Indian cricket, but his father’s sacrifices and struggles played a crucial role in his success. His passing has left a wave of grief in both the family and the sports community.
