New Delhi, July 3 — A stunning 86-run blitz by 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi powered India U-19 to a thrilling four-wicket win over England U-19 in the third Youth ODI held at Northampton on Wednesday. The rain-affected match was reduced to 40 overs per side, but the shortened format only amplified Suryavanshi’s explosive impact.

Chasing a target of 269 runs, Suryavanshi tore into the English bowling attack, scoring 86 off just 31 balls, including a half-century in just 20 deliveries — the second-fastest fifty by an Indian in U-19 ODIs. The record for the fastest still stands with Rishabh Pant, who reached his fifty in 18 balls against Nepal in 2016.
Lower Order Seals the Win After Fiery Start
Following Suryavanshi’s fireworks, India faced a middle-order collapse, but the duo of Kanishk Chauhan and R.S. Ambarish steadied the innings with a crucial 75-run stand for the seventh wicket. Their partnership ensured India reached the target with composure and clinched a well-fought victory.
England’s Strong Start Goes in Vain
Earlier, England U-19 had posted a competitive total, thanks to composed half-centuries from B.J. Dawkins and skipper Thomas Reeve. However, India’s bowling unit, led by Kanishk Chauhan, kept the English side in check. Chauhan emerged as the most effective bowler, taking three wickets to help restrict the opposition.
This win further cements India U-19’s dominance on the tour, with young talent like Vaibhav Suryavanshi showcasing promise for the future of Indian cricket.
