Jammu, July 2: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the Tawi Aarti and Light and Sound Show on Wednesday to welcome pilgrims for the Shri Amarnath Yatra. This event aims to greet devotees coming to pay their respects to Baba Barfani.
On this occasion, the Lieutenant Governor remarked that this sacred journey symbolizes faith, discipline, and spiritual awakening, serving as a source of inspiration for countless generations.
He emphasized that the Shri Amarnath Yatra is a vibrant tradition that unites people from diverse languages, cultures, and customs under a shared faith. Just hours before the journey commenced, the entire Jammu and Kashmir resonated with chants of Lord Shiva, while the banks of the Tawi River lit up with lamps.
Wishing the pilgrims well, he noted that the Tawi Aarti is based on ancient traditions and has now become a symbol of collective spiritual consciousness, cultural unity, and social harmony. He conveyed that the continuous flow of the river reminds us that, like water flows without discrimination, human life should progress with love, cooperation, and mutual respect. Daily Tawi Aarti will be held during the pilgrimage, with the lit lamps symbolizing faith, purity, and renewed energy.
The Lieutenant Governor praised the efforts of Jammu Smart City Limited, stating that the Tawi Riverfront has transformed neglected ghats into centers for cultural, social, and spiritual activities. He added that Jammu has historically been a hub of spiritual consciousness and cultural richness, and it is now reclaiming its historical identity. He urged the public to help keep the city clean and vibrant.
On this occasion, the Lieutenant Governor also launched a bus service aimed at providing tourists and locals with easy and eco-friendly access to the city’s major cultural and tourist sites. During the event, he inaugurated an exhibition based on the Amarnath Yatra and presented cleanliness mementos to the pilgrims. Many MPs, MLAs, senior administrative officials, religious leaders, and a large number of dignitaries were present.
