Importance of Certified Trainers in Gyms: Maulana Kasmi

Ghaziabad, June 12: Following the recent incident of gym-related extremism and conversion in Shamli, the government has issued strict directives regarding the verification of gym trainers and operators. Maulana Mufti Mohammad Sajid Kasmi welcomed this decision, emphasizing the need for certified and properly identified professionals for public safety.

He stated that every individual involved in such activities should have a clear identity, including registration and verification of identification documents like Aadhaar cards. It is also essential to assess their qualifications for the job.

Maulana Kasmi drew a parallel with medical professionals, saying, “If a doctor has a degree and operates a clinic, that is commendable. However, without the necessary qualifications, one should not be allowed to practice medicine.” He highlighted that all religions, including Islam, value knowledge and competence, noting the saying, “A half-baked doctor is a danger to life.”

He further explained that gyms also deal with health-related issues. If a trainer presents valid identification and verified documents, proving their capability to run a gym or provide training, it is a positive development.

“This system did not exist before, but if this step is now being taken, it is better late than never. This initiative should be welcomed,” he added.
