Raipur, May 5, 2025 — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory warning of thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and possible hailstorms in several parts of Chhattisgarh. According to the latest update, inclement weather is expected to continue across the state throughout the week, impacting daily life and potentially disrupting local infrastructure.

Districts Under Weather Watch
As per IMD’s forecast, the districts most likely to be affected include Sukma, Bijapur, South Bastar Dantewada, Bastar, Kondagaon, Balod, Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund, Raipur, Baloda Bazar, and Balrampur. These areas could witness strong winds, lightning, heavy rain, and hailstorms.
The weather office highlighted that Western Disturbances and multiple trough systems are influencing the current weather pattern, resulting in unstable atmospheric conditions across the region.
Rain and Temperature Drop Bring Relief and Disruptions
The recent spell of rain, including a significant downpour on Saturday, brought much-needed relief from rising temperatures. Several areas, including Raipur, recorded a notable drop in temperature, providing temporary respite from the heatwave conditions that had gripped the region earlier.
However, the sudden shift in weather has also led to minor disruptions in certain areas. Authorities have been advised to remain on alert and take precautionary measures to minimize the impact of adverse weather, particularly in vulnerable and rural zones.
Week-Long Unstable Weather Predicted
The IMD has forecast that weather instability may persist for the next 5 to 7 days, with daily chances of rainfall across various regions of the state. Residents are advised to stay informed through official weather updates and avoid unnecessary travel during storm conditions.
Local administrations in affected districts have been urged to issue public safety instructions and prepare for possible emergency response operations, should the weather conditions intensify.
