New Delhi: Hyundai Motor India sold 60,501 units in February 2024. Of this, domestic sales stood at 50,201 units, which is 6.8 percent more than the previous year. On the other hand, 10,300 units were exported. Here we are telling you in detail about the sales of Hyundai cars.
Hyundai sold the most SUVs
It is noteworthy that after the launch of the 2024 Creta, the SUV has sold 15,276 units in the first full month, which is the highest ever sales for the Creta model since its launch in 2015. Hyundai India COO Tarun Garg highlighted the SUV segment’s higher contribution to the company’s overall sales performance. Against the industry average of 52 percent SUV sales in India, Hyundai has sold 67 percent SUVs this fiscal year. In the last two months, SUVs have accounted for 64 percent of Hyundai’s sales, indicating their popularity.
For HMSI, SUVs contributed 67 percent this fiscal year, which is much higher than the industry average of 52 percent. The company wants to continue on the same lines, targeting 65 percent SUV sales by the end of the year. For the first time in February, HMIL is experiencing balanced sales between urban and rural areas, with rural sales crossing 20 percent.
HMIL aims to meet the growing demand by planning to expand production capacity. With a booking backlog of 85,000 to 1 lakh units in the last 5 months, Hyundai’s Pune plant is expected to add 1.5 lakh units, taking the total capacity to 10 lakh units in the medium term. In addition, HMIL is growing in the electric vehicle segment with initiatives like installing 11 ultra-fast chargers in multiple cities and plans to expand to 10 more locations in 2024.
