Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today visited R.S. Pura Sector along the Indo-Pak International Border in Jammu.
He took stock of the prevailing security situation in wake of escalated tension along the border and subsequent shelling during ceasefire violations.
The Home Minister also interacted with the people displaced due to shelling along the border and reviewed the condition of the border people.
Earlier, the Union Home Minister announced new measures to beef up security in border areas including setting up of nine new Border battalions, in which 60% locals will be given preference.
He said this after meeting various delegations including representatives of ‘Gujjar’ community in Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and MoS PMO Jitendra Singh were also present.
