HMD Tomcat With Nokia Lumia-Like Design Tipped to Launch in July; Renders, Specifications Leaked

HMD appears to be developing a new smartphone with the Fabula design language, reminiscent of the old Nokia Lumia series. The Finnish brand is yet to confirm the development, but leaks suggest the phone will launch in July. The phone’s design and specifications have also been revealed online through alleged renders. The alleged HMD phone, codenamed Tomcat, is said to be powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC with up to 12GB of RAM. It will likely come with a 108-megapixel main camera on the back.

User X HMD Meme posted pictures and dubious specifications of the HMD smartphone. The author claims that the phone, codenamed HMD Tomcat, will launch in July. The Fabula’s design appears to be inspired by the old Nokia Lumia 920, which runs on Microsoft’s operating system. It has a boxy design with a raised frame. The display features rounded corners and a punch-hole cutout in the middle for taking selfies. It is available in shades of green, blue, yellow and pink.

The rumored HMD Tomcat is said to run on Android 14 and feature a Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The device can run on a 4nm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC, paired with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The phone is expected to feature a rear camera unit consisting of a 108-megapixel main sensor with support for optical image stabilization, an ultra-wide camera, and a depth sensor. Most likely, it will come with a 32-megapixel front camera.

The HMD Tomcat will come with a 4900mAh battery with 33W charging support. It will likely offer Bluetooth 5.2, 3.5mm audio jack, NFC connectivity and dual speakers. It is said to support PureView and OZO Audio. This phone probably has an IP67 build standard.

According to a report published by Nokiamob, in addition to the HMD Tomcat, the brand is working on two other models with internal names: HMD Rocky and Nighthawk. It is said to have a 6.5-inch LCD HD+ display with a refresh rate of 60Hz. This phone is likely to come with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. It can run on a Unisoc SC9863A SOC with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. The phone is said to have a 5000mAh battery with 10W charging support.
